Behind a Camera

Besides wanting to direct photo shoots (which my first official one is this Saturday) I've always been interested in direction a short film. There's something about them that is amazing! Maybe it's the way of getting things across in a short amount of time or the complete genius of the script itself. But a lot of the time it's how powerful they can become...sometimes they seem like they can be more powerful than full length movies. I've written so many scripts and I think I'll put them in action pretty soon :)

So until that moment happens, I want to share with you some of my favorites that give me a lot of inspiration :)

1) Signs - Patrick Hughes

2) Scenes from the Suburbs (Not the full thing)

3) Double Happy

For the 2nd and 3rd one you have to kinda scroll down to find it. These three are just so amazing and inspiring! There are so many out there that just touch my heart. If you find any that you like I would love to know! Tell me which one is your favorite from those three. I'd love to know :)

Have a great day everyone!

Sick Day

Last night I had my first choir concert with Blue and Gold Company (which is the highest non-competition choir in the school)! And it was amazing! But as soon as I came home the cold I had been suppressing for the longest time totally caught me off guard. So today I had my first (and hopefully last) sick day of the school year. The day consisted of me catching up on blog reads, playing Portal 2, and sleeping...a lot of sleeping! Haha!

Here are some pictures from the choir concert last night! And yes I did have a solo as one of the youngest members of the choir :) We sang (in order) Stuck Like Glue - Sugarland, On Some Solemn Shore, lastly Steal Your Rock and Roll - Memphis (my solo song) :D

How was your day?
Hope it was lovely...and healthy! :)

Sunday Sounds!

I decided to give myself a little break from homework. So, I'm listening and downloading music and now my iPod is full :( I've deleted a bunch of songs that I don't listen to anymore and now my iPod is filled with Alternative, Indie, and Indie Rock...sometimes I laugh at myself for being so...how do I word this...different? unique? Well whatever it is, it's good to laugh at yourself once in a while :) I wanted to share with you guys some of my favorites right now! So here it is (in no particular order) the music I listen to on a daily basis :D

1) Penobska Outwalk - Quilt
2) By Your Hand - Los Campesinos!
3) Holy Holy - Wye Oak
4) Go Outside - Cults
5) What the Water Gave Me - Florence and the Machine
6) Nitrogen Pink - Polly Scattergood
7) Money - The Drums
8) I Think I Like U 2 - Jamaica
9) Pumped Up Kicks - The Kooks (cover)
10) A Walk Home - The Morning Clouds

Am I the only one who listens to only this kind of music? My friends think that it's weird that 'hipsterdom' has also taken over my iPod :) I don't know, it's something about this music that calms me or makes me feel happy and free! Are you the same way or am I just weird haha :)
Have a nice Sunday everyone!

T.G.I.F!

Hey everybody! How was your week? Mine was overly busy...which is why this is my first post of the week  :( I hate when life gets to busy to do the things you love to do :P After homecoming I had no time to have my 'homecoming hangover' like everyone else. My life schedule got even busier than it was before. I had so many things do and so many rehearsals to go to. Luckily, it's the weekend and I'll be able to have a well deserved breather!

My brother is home from college again! And I guess you've all realized by now that every time he comes home we bake a lot! So we did :) I made the Oreo Cheesecake Cookies that was made for the homecoming party I went to.

I found out the recipe for this on Stumbleupon.com. I will warn you...that website is highly addictive! :) The cookies are so delicious! If you want to try it for yourself here is the link: http://www.stumbleupon.com/su/9LP9TV/thisistolove.blogspot.com/2011/08/oreo-cheesecake-cookies.html

Happy baking! :D
Have a great weekend everyone!

Homecoming Dance 2011!

You have been warned before...have fun with the picture overload :)

As you all know yesterday was my homecoming! Finally the thing I've been talking about for the last week or so has happened!

You guys finally saw the finished look of me in my Katy Perry dress! :D The first picture is of me and my Oreo Cheesecake Cookies that I made for the party! Which I'll probably post how to make sometime in the near future. They were delicious! We had a pretty big pre-party and it was so much fun! I took a bunch of pictures with Gidget (my film SLR) and I'm going to get them developed today! I'm excited too see how those turned out :) The two pictures with me and three boys are my choir mates! It was fun to party with them outside of choir.

It was weird to be dancing to music that I don't really listen to anymore but it was still fun. They played a lot of hip-hop songs from the early 2000's and it was so much fun! It was definitely a flash back type of thing :) Overall the night and week was a success! Sophomore year was definitely better than freshman year! I can officially say I'm half way done with my high school homecomings! I'm excited for the next one!

Hope you guys enjoyed this week as much as I did :)
What was your favorite memory of high school?

Homecoming Week & Game!

Decades Day                                      Favorite Movie Character Day

Homecoming week was sooo much fun! I only got to get pictures of two of the spirit days though :/ So for decades day I dressed as a hippie from the 60s! I love that decade so much :) And for favorite movie character day I dressed up as a Potterfied Zooey Deschanel! Hahaha!

School spirit at our school is so amazing! Everyone dressed up for the spirit days and the classes compete for the spirit awards. Our school is on a block schedule (Blue and Gold days) and we have Green days were we have 25min class periods and meet with every class. In our 10 minute passing periods we have our pit people from the marching band do bucket banging! The energy of the school is so heightened and it's so amazing! There were fun dance battles and awesome tricks that were going on :) I love my school!

After school was our homecoming game! It was jam packed full of people from students to alumni. It was very claustrophobic but still very fun! We won of course :) Our football team is undefeated! The last picture may look a little grainy because of the baby powder! Yup that's right. Baby powder. Before the game starts the students pass around bottles of baby powder. At the first kick off we all throw it into the air! It looks so cool in person! My friends and I were right in the splash zone! The wind was hitting us and after the kick off we were all covered in baby powder! It was so much fun!

Tonight is the Homecoming dance and I am so excited! I'm going to a pre-party with a bunch of my friends! So the next post will most likely be a picture overload! You've been warned :)

If you're in high school, how do you celebrate your homecoming? And if your not, how did you celebrate your homecoming? Or what was your favorite memory of high school?
Hope you guys have a lovely day!

Blueberry Cheesecake!

Got in a baking mood today when I came home from school! My favorite cheesecake...Blueberry Cheesecake! I'm an addict to anything blueberry and anything cheesecake so the two put together is heaven :)  Usually when we make cheesecake we also buy little pie crusts but we forgot so I improvised and decided to use these champagne glasses that we have. I like it much better! It looks so classy and cute. I gave myself a little pat on the back :)

I'm soo excited! Today I bought 8 rolls of film! I have been dying without having anytime to go out and buy more film and explore places for pictures! I'm planning on having this big fall photo shoot with some of my friends so I'm all set!

How has your day been?
Hope it's been great! :D

Homecoming week has been awesome! Monday was Patriotic day and I wore red, white and blue. Tuesday was decades day! I hope people know there's more than the 80's...I dressed in the 60's :) Today was Pirates vs Ninjas day and I dressed as a pirate ninja :D Yeah!

I got bored in SRT today so I decided to doodle and up above is what happened :) I'm obsessed with Polaroids :)

Hope you've had a wonderful day!

Don't End the Weekend

What a weekend! Friday night I went to my friend's surprise birthday party! (He will  be 16 this Friday) And I didn't get home till very late in the night (not sure exactly when) Then I woke up at 7a.m. to teach a dance class. Luckily my dad made me coffee! Oh how I have been living off of coffee :) Saturday I spent the day with my mom then went to hang out with my friends around 9p.m. and got to my friends house round 1:30a.m. to crash but we ended up staying awake until 5 something haha! Came home around 12:15p.m. today and went grocery shopping with my family! I'm to the point where I'm completely tired but I don't want to sleep! These are the kind of weekends I live for! Being young and feeling infinite. Throughout the weekend this Time To Pretend by MGMT kept popping up into my head and it pretty much sums up how much (legal) fun we were having. Haha! XP If only the weekend wouldn't end.

Tomorrow is the begging of homecoming week at my school! Everyday we have a different spirit day!
So you'll be able to see my school spirit this week!

I also want to take a blog moment to recognize all the people who lost their lives in the 9/11 attack and thank all the heroes who helped! It's been 10 years but the memory of that day is still so vivid.

I'm intrigued...how was your weekend? (:
Hope you had a great weekend everyone!

Mother-Daughter Day

Photos aren't the greatest for they have been taken with an iPhone and not an actual camera :)
Me and my lovely mother!
Me in a lovely giraffe print shirt :)

Me drinking lovely chocolate milk!

Me pointing at said lovely milk!

Me pointing at lovely milkmaid braids!
I MADE A CONNECTION! :D

So, today my mother and I decided to spend the day together since my dad and brothers were all busy! I was telling her about my blog and all the weird things I was interested in and I started talking about how one of the blogs I read talked about milkmaid braids! She was easily interested and I told her what it was and how it was done. Turns out that when my mom was my age and had hair as long as mine she also wore her hair like this! How awesome :D I've been trying to do it myself but I just can't get the hang of it! So she showed me how to do it today and I was sooo happy (:

My mom and I spent the day at the mall looking at clothes...and ending up buying clothes...haha! I bought this cute little giraffe print t-shirt from F21 today :) It was hidden behind all these other clothes and I immediately fell in love with it! I've been wanting a shirt with the tie collar and now I have one! I also bought this pretty blue shirt from Francesca's today and found a scent at Bath and Body Works that my mom and I both like (which is rare) So my day has been pretty much ideal :)

How was you day?
I hope it was lovely :)

When the Leaves Tell the Time

So, as you all know I'm not that big of a fan of fall. But, besides over-sized sweaters, I love the amazing photography chances that I get with the change of the leaves! :) It's soo pretty and the colors are just gorgeous. I swore yesterday the tree was green! I came home from school to find that my tree has turned into this pretty autumn red. It's also the only tree on our street that's changed color so I guess that the season has came to my family first :) Haha!

Anyways, I'm getting pumped for this coming week! It's Homecoming week! So everyday is a spirit day with awesome things going on around the school between passing periods (: I'm planning on hanging out and getting ready for the days with my friends over the weekend!

How was all of your weeks?
Have a fun and fantastic weekend! :D
